Asser Yassin is an Egyptian actor who was born in Cairo in 1981. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the American University in Cairo and graduated in 2008. After being chosen to play a role in the university theater, he decided to focus on acting full time, and began his career in some independent short films the most important being Ramy Abdel Gabar’s “Bayt Men Lahm” 2005. In 2006 he appeared in Sherif Arafa’s film “Halim” and in Marwan Hamed’s film “The Yacoubian Building”. In 2007, he participated in “The Island” with the director Sherif Arafa. He became under the spotlight in 2008 due to his roles in: Hesham El Shafie’s film “ Have We Met Before”, Saeed Hamed’s “ Here, Please, Driver!” and Amr Salama’s “Yesterday not Yesterday”. In the same year, he made his first leading role in Mohamed Yassin’s film “The Promise” where he gave critically acclaimed performances. In 2010, he made his biggest impression when he starred in Daoud Abdel Sayed’s “Messages from the Sea”. He also participated in “18 Days” film in 2011 which featured a number of Egyptian actors and directors that witnessed the events of 25th January 2011. He appeared in Tareq El Eryan’s “ Walls of the Moon” and starred in in Marwan Hamed’s “Diamond Dust” in 2018.
